ACC Atlantic Football 2011 Preview
by adminThe ACC is on its way to becoming a major football power with the re-emergence of some key college football powers. The Florida State Seminoles and the Clemson Tigers will once again be tough teams this season but there are a few other teams that may be tough to rate until the season gets underway.
North Carolina was under fire by the NCAA last season but they still have enough talent to compete with the big boys in the ACC. Jimbo Fisher has hit the ground running with Florida State and he could have the team to beat this season despite breaking in new quarterback, E.J. Manuel.
Do not forget about the old guard of the ACC, the Virginia Tech Hokies. Frank Beamer is looking for a marked improvement from a young Hokies defense and his defensive coordinator, Bud Foster, is still looking for his captain as spring practice begins.
Boston College could be in for a big down turn in 2011. They lose Mark Herzlich but return several key defensive players. Another team that could take a nose dive in 2011 is the Maryland Terrapins. Ralph Friedgen’s dismissal by Maryland was not popular with players or the fan base.
